Father's Day

Andrew's still in New York, so we missed celebrating Father's Day with him this year. He missed the kids singing in sacrament meeting. He missed out on handling the cards the girls made. He missed out on Father's Day treats. Mostly, though, he missed out on us. And we missed him!

He's such a wonderful daddy! We're lucky to have him; he's my perfect complement. He's patient when I've run out of patience and is fun when I've run out of fun. I change most of the diapers, but he takes care of most of the vomit (more than a fair trade, in my opinion). He works hard so I can stay home with the kids, but when he is home he's so helpful. He makes our home a wonderful place to be and we're so lucky to have him. Did I already say that?

Ten years ago I made the best decision of my life when I married that man! Ten. Years.

This year is a year of milestones for me. Not only is it our tenth anniversary (but not until December), it's also my thirtieth (30th!) birthday (but not until tomorrow). Here's my own wonderful daddy supporting me on both of those special days—my birth and my wedding, twenty years apart:

I'm excited to get to spend some time with him in just one week, and I'm sure he's excited to meet his newest grand baby. I'm sure Reid's excited to meet her, too. Our kids have the best grandpas!

Here's a little collage I put together of my dad and my father-in-law with our kids (except not Zoƫ because she obviously hasn't met either of her grandfathers yet):

Auntie Emily, though, stole the show when she put together this collage of sleepy Grandpa:
Starting at the top left: with Riley, with Gavin, with Maren, with Rachel, at Grover, and finally, with Miriam and Rachel in Luxor (I couldn't find a picture of Benjamin asleep with Grandpa and we're also missing Kayl)
So, that was our rather low-key Father's Day. Three wonderful men to honour but we're so far away from all of them that the best we could do was Skype!

  1. Emily did steal the show! Love that he can sleep pretty much anywhere!
