We've had the opportunity to get together with all of our living grandparents this past week--Rachel's great grandparents. Unfortunately she's a little nervous of them. I can't really explain why because there are plenty of grandparents in our ward and Rachel will play with them. She won't really let any of them hold her, but she sure does flirt with all of them! I guess she's always been comfortable at church.
It always takes her a while to warm up to her great grandparents though. I suppose she's lucky to have any great grandparents! I have one picture of me with my dad's grandparents, but other than that I had no great grandparents. And I certainly don't remember my great grandparents.
I guess we just live longer now, which is a good thing--I'm glad Rachel has her great grandparents still.
The reason you didn't know your great-grandparents on MY side of the family: they ranged from 71 to 86 years old in 1957, the year I was born. You were born in 1985; add 28 years to all of those ages, and the youngest would have been 99 when you were born: but she died at 85, so you missed her by 14 years! :o)
ReplyDeleteI remember my Gr.-Grma Redd. She was the last one... Only just remember her. She fed me my first taste of chocolate ever. It was horrible. I hated it. It was baker's chocolate. The most pure you can find. :) I'm so glad I discovered later that milk chocolate is excellent.
