Father's Day Weekend

Grandpa Frank and Grandma Sharon invited Andrew, me and Rachel over for dinner last Saturday. Mostly they were just inviting Rachel. She's been rather hesitant to befriend them, so they thought that if they had some one-on-one time with her, getting down on the floor and playing at her level, that she'd open up to them.

It worked!

She was still a little shy at first, but after a half hour or so she was pretty comfortable with them, grabbing their hands and taking them for walks, untying their shoes, and trying to get them to help her touch the trees. She also went around the table and mooched food from everyone. We had a great evening!

All too soon, Rachel was tuckered out and ready for bedtime, so we had to head home. I was planning on making Andrew breakfast in bed, since that is what he gave me for Mother's Day. However, I forgot the small detail of our schedule changing to 9 AM from 1 PM. We had to get up too early and I didn't have time to make Andrew breakfast. He had cold cereal instead.

But...in Elder's Quorum they gave all the fathers a cookie.

But...Rachel snatched it right out of Daddy's hands and smashed in in her mouth before he could even get a bite. She can fit a lot in that little mouth of hers if it's a matter of sharing (or not sharing).

But...Andrew had a great day, anyway.

We went over to his family's house after church and Rachel and Uncle Jacob made goofy faces at each other over the kitchen table.

Uncle Jacob, you're so silly!

Ah, ha, ha!

Reid wasn't home, so we didn't linger long. We went over to my parents' house to spend some time with my daddy. Mom made a wonderful Andrew-friendly dinner of lasagne (she's so catering) and we had a lovely strawberry cake after we played a few rounds of croquet.

I would just like to mention that I won the first round we played. This is relevant because Andrew has beaten me every single time we've played.

That's amazing, Uncle David!

Thank you, Andrew, for being such a great dad for Rachel. Thank you, Reid, for being such a good example for Andrew. You raised him well. Thank you, Daddy, for being such a great dad for me! Happy (late) Father's Day to everyone!
