On Thursday night, Rachel and I crashed the Northridge 2nd ward mother/daughter activity. Karen is on the Relief Society committee and she helped plan a beautiful Mexican fiesta. I can never say no to Mexican food...
Rachel had a few firsts that night: watermelon and balloons. She enjoyed both very much.
We also learned that she doesn't like sombreros. She hated when we put one on her head and was very nervous when Grandma tried to introduce her to a poster of some sombrero-wearing men. It was kind of like graduation, really. She just doesn't like hats, I guess.
We had a lot of fun. It was nice to spend some time with Karen and Emily and to see some of our friends and family from that ward. Actually, we don't have a lot of family in that ward, besides Andrew's family, but we got to see Kathy Conrad, so that was nice. And Rachel got to see her little friend Lela.
Tonight Andrew took me out for dinner at the Brick Oven. He was nominated as the student employee of the year a while ago and was awarded a gift certificate and he decided to spend it on me!
Rachel was excited to get to go out. It was a little cold/windy/rainy today so we didn't spend a lot of time outside. She gets cabin fever rather easily so she was thrilled when I pulled out the car seat.
We're going somewhere!
We sat down and started looking at the menu. Our waitress gave Rachel a package of crackers so we opened them up and gave her a whole cracker to see what she would do. She held it in her hand, took a little nibble, and then took a great big bite and chewed it up. She's getting so good at managing her food.
When we were just about finished, my cousin Heather walked by! She lives in Chicago and we haven't seen her for such a long time! She's been in town visiting with friends (weddings and funerals and the like). I was feeling sad that I didn't get the chance to see her because she stopped by to see my mom and David on campus...but then she just popped up at Heaps! We were glad that we decided to eat out tonight instead of tomorrow night!

Oh yes. I forgot Heather is in town for a bit. That would explain why Michael isn't online. lol.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mother's Day should be celebrated every day, especially for you. I think you are just the best mom, and I'm so impressed with the way you handle your day-to-day responsibilities and activities. You're doing a great job with Rachel (and with Andrew)! Love ya...
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh! I LOVE that picture of Rachel in her car seat! It is SOOOOOO cute!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with Josie on that one!
